The vision of CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) is a community without violence so that home is a safe place.
CASA's mission is to raise our voices against violence through advocacy, empowerment, and social change.
The St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce recognized CASA's achievements in serving the community by naming
CASA The Non-profit Business of the Year at their celebration dinner, May 2003.
CASA serves the needs of the community by providing shelter to victims of domestic violence, as well as
addressing the root causes of domestic violence through advocacy,
education, and training in the schools and community.

Lorna Bracewell and CASA
Lorna Bracewell presented her first benefit concert for CASA at Pro Star Sound Stage in 2005. This concert,
performed by Bracewell with a live acoustic trio, was audio and video recorded, and is available for purchase as
a music CD and as a DVD video at Bracewell's web site: www.lornabracewell.com/lfc.htm (New Window).
Since this initial meeting, Bracewell has benefited CASA through an On this Earth concert in 2006, and will benefit
CASA again in 2007 through this On this Earth concert.
Bracewell is also personally involved in domestic violence and intimate partner violence awareness and advocacy.
She has been a speaker at the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence's state convention (2006) and a panelist
at the National Communication Association's annual national convention (2006). Also in 2006, Bracewell was nominated for a Special
Tribute Award of the Office of the Attorney General and the Governor's Office of the state of Florida as a
distinguished victim advocate for her "commitment to supporting victims of domestic violence" and
for a Pearl Award by the Tampa Bay Area Women's Directory. Finally, Bracewell is in demand as a speaker at colleges
and community organizations with her program "Love 101: Rethinking Love, Sex and Power"
(Read Love 101 Flyer, New Window).
